Message from Kathy Chesto
Dear Friends,

I have been wanting to do more than pray for peace for quite a long time. This idea began as something I hoped to do with the people of my own parish. Then, I thought, why not town, then, why not the world, while we were at it.

Please read the invitation below. If you would like to see more, go to www.kathleenchesto.com but I want to make sure you at least see the invitation. We already have people joining us in five different countries. If you choose to stand for peace, you won't be standing alone.

And I am hoping you will want to be one of seven who stand for peace - and that you will know many people to invite to join you.

Peace.
Kathy Chesto

Seven for Peace Project

"I am only one; but I am still one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do something I can do." Helen Keller

Will you stand with seven for peace?

We have reached a terrible stalemate in our quest for peace. We do not know how to achieve stability in the Middle East, how to bring our troops home, how to get beyond the horns of the dilemma on which we are caught. We all agree we want peace, but our very conversations are filled with angry rhetoric and hateful recriminations. As we argue, people continue to die, not only in the Middle East, but in conflicts all over our globe.

It is time to stop. To stand in silence and honor our dead, to think thoughts of peace, to silently pray prayers of peace, and to send that positive energy into our world.

On the seventh day of the seventh month of 2007, you are invited to light a candle for peace and remembrance and to stand silently outside your home at 7 PM for seven minutes. Invite seven people to do the same.

For seven months, we will continue to stand on the seventh day of the month. If each person invited seven more, by the seventh month, we could circle the globe. If each person stands at 7 PM in his or her own time zone, then every hour of that day, somewhere on earth, at least one person will be lighting a candle for peace.

Will you be one of seven who stand for peace?

"Few will have the greatness to change history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation." Robert F. Kennedy.

Thought for the Day
Only for today, I will be happy in the certainty that I was created to be happy, not only in the other world but also in this one.
From “Ten Commandments for My Life” composed by Pope John XXIII
