Good News
Hubert Chicou is happy to announce that Julie Rattey has been promoted to Managing Editor of Catholic Digest. Kerry Weber has been promoted to Associate Editor. Both Julie and Kerry have done exemplary work for Catholic Digest, and Publisher Kathleen Stauffer and Editor-in-Chief Dan Connors join Hubert in both thanking them for their work and looking forward to their continuing contributions to the success of the entire Bayard-New London operation.

Congratulations Julie and Kerry. Another reason to celebrate today!

Good morning!

Who's In, Who's Out
David Baxendale will be here today.

Pot Luck
Remember the pot luck downstairs at noon. Please join us even if you didn't bring anything. We'd love to see everyone there.

Snacks Anyone?
Abbey Press sent some snacks for us to enjoy. Please help yourself to them in Judy's area.

French Lessons
Please let me know if you are interested in taking French lessons. We'd like to start lessons again in mid-January or early February.

Good morning. Only a few more shopping days left.

Sweet Treat
Once again management has treated us to a big box of Godiva chocolates to be enjoyed by all. Stop by Judy's desk and help yourself. This is one sweet treat I look forward to each year.

Also...
Don't forget the pot luck on Wednesday.

DID YOU KNOW?
U.S. Book Sales Report from Sir Speedy Whittier

In 2004 there were 195,000 new Trade Books published in the U.S. with a grand total of 1.1 million titles. This does not include the 500 million books published in the U.S. without an ISBN number.

Of all books printed, 60% will never sell!!!

The average production per title is 2,500 copies. 75% of books published sell less than 500 books per year. 50% of books published sell less than 250 books per year. Average annual sales are approximately 300 books.

The average book sits on a shelf for 5-10 years.

If a Publisher sells only 40% of the stock of a book, it costs the Publisher 2.5 times the price of the book.

Based on these statistics, Bayard/Twenty-Third's publications are way better than average!!!

Wrong ISBN
We just discovered that Traits of a Healthy Spirituality has an incorrect ISBN on the back cover. It is correct on the copyright page, telephone order form, and in BookWorks.

Christmas Party
What a great Christmas party yesterday. I hope everyone had a good time. We had a varied group of people at our table which turned out to be pretty rowdy but lots of fun!

It seems someone may have left the party without taking a gift as there is one left over. If you brought a gift and didn’t take one, please see me today.

Who’s In, Who’s Out
Didier and I believe Hubert, will be in next Monday and Tuesday. Then on Wednesday afternoon Dan, Dan, Julie, Valerie and Kathleen will fly to St. Louis for meetings the rest of the week.

Christmas Party
Our Christmas luncheon starts at 12:00 pm on Wednesday at the Lighthouse Inn.

As you may recall from last year parking was a problem so you may want to car pool. If you’ve never been to the Lighthouse Inn, you would go to the very end of Montauk and take a right onto Pequot Ave. It’s 1.5 miles to Guthrie Place (right at stop sign) and the Inn is at the end of the street.

Remember to bring you gift or wine exchange if you wish to participate. We’ll do that at the very end of the luncheon when everyone’s ready to leave.

Door Lock
When entering or exiting the outside door near the large garage door, please make sure it locks shut behind you. The lock hasn’t been catching and therefore isn’t secure.
