Hello everyone! I’m sure by now you’ve heard the news, that I’m stepping down as President at 23rd.
As you all know, I have been commuting from our home and farm in northern Minnesota to the company offices here in New London. This commute has proven to be very difficult for me and Mark. We find that we have declining and disappearing social connections in both of these ports: in our parish and town, in the arts and local politics, in our longstanding commitment to the poor of Guatemala, and most importantly, with our families and friends. We spend a lot of time moving between New London and Pine City and not enough time living in either place.
And because of my strong support and long relationship with Twenty-Third, and my relatively short tenure as President there, this has been a very difficult decision for us. Nonetheless, it is now decided that I will return to being a part-time senior advisor to Twenty-Third, as I was before taking on my current role. This will be effective November 15. I continue to support all of the work Twenty-Third is doing in today’s church, and will still be a big part of that. The good work we’ve been doing will continue uninterrupted, and even more strongly as we add a new leader to our team.
Under the new arrangements, I will be self-employed again, working from the farm in Minnesota, traveling only occasionally to New London, or to events and conferences. I will also be able to more freely accept invitations to advise, teach or lecture on Vatican II, lifelong faith formation, and whole community catechesis.
I continue to have strong support and enthusiasm for the mission and the people of Bayard Inc and Twenty-Third Publications, as well as for the work of publishing high quality, affordable resources with which to provide lifelong faith formation in the church.
My Minnesota address and phone are the same as always:
Bill Huebsch
9980 Wildflower Rd
Pine City, MN 55063

I’m so grateful to you all for the friendship and support you’ve shown me this year. I’ll miss you very much!
Blessings to you and to your loved ones…
blessings for your work…
and for our church,
Bill
