Folks:

I am trying to retrieve a few books that I placed, by mistake, on the free giveaway table behind my cubicle. I need them only briefly, to have the covers scanned, then you can have them back.

I need: "The Way: the Essential Classic of Opus Dei's Founder"; "Sacred Necessities"; and "The Embrace of a Father."

Please give them to me A.S.A.P. and you can have them back right away after scanning.

thanks
Mary

Have a great weekend everyone. One more thing before you go....

Have a great weekend everyone. Just one more thing before you go.....

...we will have Assumptionist visitors on Monday.

...and then the bristly-faced stranger stepped out (though his face wasn't bristly when he arrived), almost as quickly as he had stepped in, never to return again. It seems like yesterday when he came into their lives. They didn't know what he did, or even why he was here; but when he didn't go away, they just got used to him being around.

The stranger is walking that lonely, treacherous road into the unknown now, but richer than he's ever been before, because he got to spend time with great people, in a great place, where he made some great friendships he'll never forget.

Though he walked off with a smile, it was hiding a tear.

It has been my pleasure to know all of you. What seems like an ending, never really has to be. Please stay in touch: brad91279@gmail.com

your friend,
Brad

Celebrity Dan
Sorry for emailing the wrong information earlier. Dan Connors will be featured on the NBC Today Show tomorrow morning, Thursday, sometime between the hours of 7 and 9 a.m. If you aren't able to catch it, NBC will send us a tape of the show for viewing later. Perhaps Andrea will have the TV on in her office and she can alert us if she sees the interview.

Lisa Wilson's Dad
Just wanted you to know that Lisa Wilson's dad died Monday night. Gwen just talked to Lisa and she and Ford are flying out to Michigan in the morning. Her dad had brain cancer and was in hospice for the last week. She was able to keep in touch with him via cell phone and she was able to hear the priest give him the sacrament of anointing. She is very sad but composed (but still afraid to fly). Please keep her and her family in their prayers. Thanks.

Good morning all. We had a great time at Disney as usual. It’s good to be back. Thanks Brad for taking the reigns of the Blog while I was out. You did a great job as usual. We will surely miss you!

Fund Raiser
Amy and her daughter Lizzie will be participating in the American Cancer’s Society Relay for Life in Westerly this Friday night. Please see Amy if you are interested in making a donation. Another option is to purchase a Luminary for $5.00 in memory of a cancer survivor. During the luminaria ceremony, candles are placed in bags bearing the names of people who have had cancer. When lit, hundreds of luminaries brighten the way for Relay for Life walkers throughout the night.

In an effort to make things more efficient and accessible to everyone in the company, a folder has been added to the Drop_Share containing all of the active titles for Twenty-Third Publications. This folder includes books, videos, CD-ROM's, and music CD's, all of which are listed by ISBN. Each JPEG file is small enough to email, but is in a high resolution format ideal for filling requests from companies looking for images for catalogs, ads, and any other printed material.
As new titles are added to our extensive print library, files will also be updated in our digital library. The name of the file located on the Drop_Share is…
23rd Cover
If you have any trouble locating the folder please let me know.
Thank you,
Rob

Trivia answer and results!

Much love going out to KAREN REED for knowing that ON Mother's Day, the business that annually reaps the greatest financial spoils is KFC ... yes, that's right, Kentucky Fried Chicken. You see, the trick to the question was the use of the preposition ON.

Karen is the winner of one (1) copy of the book Parish Priest: Father Michael McGivney and American Catholicism by Douglas Brinkley and Julie M. Fenster.

Thanks to all who played!

This is B.D. Schwarz rappin' at ya on a Friday morning.

Not much in the way of news this rainy morning I'm afraid. But don't fear! I have a trivia question. Something that seems to have fallen out of favor in our blogosphere but I'm determined to bring it back.

I think perhaps in the past the problem has been that there is no good prize for being the first to answer my deliciously difficult brain busters. A mere mention on the blog isn't enough motivation to drop me an e-mail I guess. As such, I have an actual, tangible prize for today's trivia game. But, it will remain a secret until I have a winner.

On to the question...

May 14 is Mother's Day which was originally conceived by social activist Julia Ward Howe during the Civil War (or as it is called down in the South, the War Between the States) with a call to unite women against war. She wrote the Mother's Day proclamation. The day now simply celebrates motherhood and thanking mothers. Mothers often receive gifts on this day.

What company makes the most money on Mother's Day?

NOTE: Today's question comes courtesy of Kerry Moriarty. Thanks Kerry!

Greetings to all in the blogosphere. It's good to be back behind the wheel of this Bayard blog and all riding upon her. But keep it down back there and behave or I will turn this blog around!

To the news...

An important message from Bert:

We will be testing the sprinkler system starting at 7:00AM Wednesday. Please advise yor co-workers. Every effort will be made to minimize audible alarms. Testing should be concluded between 8:00 and 8:30.

And that's all the news that's fit to blog today.

A Message from Dan Connors

Dear Everyone,

I want to tell you how very grateful I am for all the support you
gave me as I prepared for the Today show interview. I was deeply
touched by your good wishes and help. Never have I felt more a part
of a team. If I did well, you are a big part of the reason, and
Catholic Digest and our whole company will benefit. If I did poorly,
I have no one to blame but myself (and the NBC editors, of course!).

When the interview gets boiled down to a few sound bites, If I come
across well, the glory will be short-lived. If I did poorly, the
pain... well, it will linger a bit longer. But what will never fade
is the sense of affection and affirmation I felt from all of you.
We're all in this together, and I am bursting with pride at the
privilege of knowing and working with you all.

Thank you so much!

Dan

Interesting Fact
On this day in 1872 the first U.S. post card was issued, and sold for one cent!

While I'm away, Brad graciously accepted my invitation to run the blog. Enjoy!
